The Most Beautiful Girl In The World ~ by Charlie Rich
Hey, did you happen to see the most beautiful girl in the world?
And if you did, was she crying, crying?
Hey, if you happen to see the most beautiful girl that walked out on me
Tell her, "I'm sorry."
Tell her, "I need my baby."
Won't you tell her that I love her.
I woke up this morning and realized what I had done
I stood alone in the cold gray dawn
I knew I'd lost my morning sun
I lost my head and I said some things
Now come the heartaches that morning brings
I know I'm wrong and I couldn't see
I let my world slip away from me
So.......
" I don't think I ever recorded anyone who was a better singer, song writer, and player than Charlie Rich." -Sam Phillips

Born in Forrest City on December 14, 1934 to a poor Arkansas family, Rich learned piano and Blues from C.J. Allen, a Black tenant farmer.
Charlie Rich was one of the most soulful performers of yesteryear, and one of the most overlooked old-timers in the country canon.

Working his way up as a second-stringer in the roster of Sam Phillips' Sun label, Rich developed an incredible blend of whiteboy pop and hauntingly bluesy soul.  He's sort of a weird morph of Ray Charles and Jerry Lee Lewis, but with far more emotional impact than either of those two. At the peak of his fame, Rich was known as "the Silver Fox" and won the Performer of the Year award in 1974, riding high on a series of lavish countrypolitan hits that helped define the genre.

"The Most Beautiful Girl In The World" is probably the single greatest countrypolitan song ever recorded.
